Footnote A – (Grade vs. Age Option)

Mount Laurel Baseball continues to define its leagues in accordance with Cal Ripken Baseball Division definitions.  Cal Ripken divisions are age-based and utilize an age determination date of April 30th (i.e. player’s age as of 4/30).

Mount Laurel Baseball recognizes that this date is different than the age cut-off date for schools (10/1) and those players with birth dates after 4/30 are prevented from playing with other players in their grade whose birth dates are prior to 4/30.  Therefore, MLB will again provide these players with the option to play up with their school grade instead of with their assigned age-based league. The following table highlights this option for the 2020 season:

Starting in the 2021 Spring Season, the grade-based option will be eliminated.  Players must play in accordance with their age starting with T-Ball.  All current Rookie through Majors players will be grandfathered in and will continue to have the option to play grade or age based.

Mount Laurel Baseball continues to follow Cal Ripken’s “age-based” divisions and website registration will assign players accordingly. If you wish to exercise the option to play in a “grade-based” league, please send an email to [email protected] with “grade-based option” referenced in the subject line after completing registration.

A Player’s eligibility for District / Tournament Summer baseball is based on the league in which the Player participated in for Mount Laurel Baseball’s recreational season.
